Saratoga in koi pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the tips guys, i'm in Queensland (Nambour, Sunshine coast)
I have since found out that the 'koi' are just big goldfish (they are not mine but i'm not allowed to get rid of them)

Ideally i'd like to have all natives in the pond - bass, saratoga, salmontail catfish etc. so i'll have to do something with the goldfish.

Meanwhile i'll keep looking for a juv. saratoga, there a a few around and they're pretty expensive - $90 for 1.5'!

because they have taken over australian waterways and are seen as vermin and hunted with bows and killed. Thusly queensland they are illegal
They are illegal in Queensland, yet are completely legal in the southern, more colder states. :screwy: Brisbanes temps are great for Koi. But its the grass carp/normal carp that are released by hobbyists which is why they are illegal.

Benjine: A 18" Jardini for 90 bucks is just a mind blowing low price. I have to pay $200 on average for a 9-12" Jardini when I can catch them 2 hours away.

Sorry Mystix212, i meant 1.5 inch - just a baby one (I got the " and ' mixed up)
I've seen a 1.5 foot and it was $320
