Sorry to break it to you guys, but lots of the Wels info here is simply wrong. No they can not grow to 7m, not even in the ebro or po. I'd say in an even warmer system 4m max.
Also they can be kept in large garden ponds as they are not very active fish. The pond just needs to be large and very well filtered.

Its about 1m I guess now hard to tell smashes goldfish like there's no tomorrow lol

it hhas the potential to reach 7m it was even on river monsters
and i beleive that its was evan on the austraian noxious fish list

he bites them but doesnt swalow and hes is 18cm was 15cm when i bought him

That's what mine does with hikari gold so annoying , try put couple in a prawn see if he swallows them
