Help needed guys! My lei's eye has been bruised up and it doesn't seem to be healing :(. Upped the temperature and added salt but it isn't helping. What else can I do? It's been like this for a while now and at first I thought it was no big deal and will heal but no luck...

The Lei is scared of the African aro and for good reason. The African keeps chasing no this guy around. Since I have tried upping the temperature and adding salt and I haven't seen any improvement, is there anything else I can do?

If he is stressed healing will be slower...no different then people. Those are all awesome fish that all do best by themselves. Could move him to his own tank :)...I personally don't like the look of a fish that is torn up, usually keep the agressive monsters alone. But looks like u take good care of them. Good luck, the African Arowana would be my choice if I was limited to that tank and those fish. But I also like jardini. So I would just end up with two more big tanks and one angry wife :) hope I am wrong and they work out together...

Thanks for your reply. And her fins aren't torn up at all. The African aro just chases her around and there isn't any biting involved. I do have another tank up and running but I can't put the lei in there cause there is a 7" ATF and a 7" bambusa growing out in there. I wish the lei's growth rate was as slow as the Tigers... Lol. When I got the lei, she was smaller than the atfs in my grow out but now she is around 11" and thick.

What are they growing out for? Just curious

It's tea tree oil. I have never had any luck with it. Found isolation and frequent water changes work great. Inflatable kids pool in the garage or even a Rubbermaid trough if u don't have a tank will give him space and volume to heal.

I was supposed to have my 600gallon up and running by now. But due to some budget issues I'll be waiting till November to get that tank. So I plan on moving the biggest guys into the 600, keep the medium sized ones in the 240 and eventually, convert my 135 into a planted tank.

Okay thank you for the tip. And I'll try to setup a DIY pond or something. Or maybe Ill ask a friend to keep the African aro till the lei heals.

Quick update, the lei is doing really well but her eye is damaged (probably permanently :( ). It doesn't stop her form eating / chasing other fish around :D

The good news is that the black part of her eye isn't damaged, just the outer layer...
