Would a group of Satanoperca daemon and Cr. Saxastilis work in a 530 litre (140 gallons)

Or will the pikes take all the bottomspace for themselves?

I know that the combination wouldn't work out too horribly well with Lugubris group pikes. you would have shredded fins on your Satanoperca, which would be a pity since daemon gets some gorgeous trailers!

Saxatilis though it might work out. You would want a lot of open space for the daemon, so put decorations in the corners if possible. Maybe that way the pikes won't claim dominance of the center of the tank.

It could work, and has worked before. I say go for it! :D

Yes, the plan is to have open space in the middle and rock/root formations in the back and in the corners, does deamons work well in ph 6.5-7?

Satanoperca daemon? That is the COOLEST scientific name I've EVER heard.

(Sorry I can't be of more help... just thought I'd point that out.)

I've got a mostly grown bellycrawler living peacefully with 7 young jurupari that I'm growing out. The pike is about 4.5", and the jurupari are between 2" and 3.5". They pretty much completely ignore each other.

Okay, i just got the info from a lfs that they will be getting cr. lenticulatas soon.. and thats rly the pike im after the most.
But you're saying they wont mix with deamons?

I wouldn't risk it. They will work out for a while, but then they will most likely start nipping the fins of the daemon, or pushing them around as they are more docile.

I kept some 6" daemon in a 125gal with some lents and acutirostris though, and it seemed to work out fairly well. Only thing was the finnage of the daemon never reached full potential. :(

thats too bad, but i rly want the lents.
Are there any other cichlid group that will wotk with the lents, maybe severum?

Hoplarchus psittacus
Caquetaia myersi
Severums
Chocolate cichlids

Mainly your larger, more robust cichlids. :)

You could go for a Saxatilis group pike, they are pretty easy to get in to LFS, I'm sure you could score a couple at your LFS. All the species are pretty attractive, and would work much better with the daemon. Just a thought.
