Sauger..cool native!

We do in some rivers, but every walleye I have seen has not faired well in aquaria. I think they need colder water to thrive, and I am not investing in chiller, they are just too expensive for what you get.
 
how big to sauger get? if i'm remembering correctly they get quite a bit smaller then walleye

Sauger is similar to the walleye, but they don't get near as big. The two can even be crossbred. They are called saugeye around here.
 
Saugar are a very widespread fish in N.America from The St. Lawrence waterway south to Northern Alabama and Georgia and west to Montana.

I have only had him the tank with the other fish for 24hours so I cant comment on his aggresion, but he has always hit feeders as soon as they hit the water!
