I never had a problem using ply wood. Their is however, a "plastic" in a can. It is easyer to clean if you coat the cage with that.

i plan on finding some big rocks to make a cave for him...is there anything i need to do to sterilize them since i'll be getting them from the outdoors? I really just don't want to have to pay for something i can just go find, but i also want to make sure that they're safe

Wasking with soap and srubing them with a brush will get the clean. If you want to, you can freeze them. I dont see the rock hurting the monitor in any way.

cool, i had just posted a thread about it and heard similar stuff...i'll definitely post pictures of the enclosure once it's all done...thanks again for the help
