yep it would be a plywood tank build with openable top two openings and sliding glass front 1/2 inch wood and 1/4 inch glass. i was going to use a 160watt powersun uv light for the hot spot and with a 100watt ceramic heater i thought i would be ok for heat and i would put two house vent covers on the sides to control the air flow a little bite
the minimum cage for a monitor is the length of it is the width and double that for the length
so a 4ft animal would need a minimum of 8x4 feet floor space
a healthy sav is not lazy at all quite far from it actually
If you don't mind me asking, but how did you lose lizards to the ceramic heat emitters? Aren't they pretty much the same as a heat bulb? And most of the savs I've seen are relatively active for large lizards.
The 4' height is good, but instead of lots of climbing shelves I'd go with deeper substrate. They're diggers, not climbers. The most he'll do is climb up on logs & things, but he really might not take advantage of the shelves.
Also I agree with latshki, those dimensions are going to be tight for a sav. Giving a 4'+ animal 2.5' of turning space isn't going to work.
