I picked a bad day to forget my camera and my phone takes worthless photos. Unfortunately the place is an hour away, so I'm not sure when I'll make it back.

I'm not really into debating whether it was a Goliath Tiger Fish or not, for me knowing the LFS owner is enough proof that it was what he said it was. On the other hand, if the wholesaler is misleading people I suppose he could be getting swindled - how difficult are the two species to tell apart at a small size? What are the distinguishing features?

It's all in the head shape when they are small.True Goliaths have a more bluntly shaped snout than the Vitatus and when they are bigger,the Goliath gets really large tailfins compared to it's cousin.

I visited that LFS yesterday and the fish in question was clearly labeled Hydrocynus vittatus.
