Saw a sad RTC today ar the LFS (pics) :(

I was at the LFS today and came across this RTC...I was like "hmm" theres something weird about this guy...when i took a closer look i realized that either he was borned without eyes or was brutally attacked by some fish who took out his eyes...the reason i was led to believe that maybe he was borned without eyes was that the skin was neatly pulled over the area where the eyes would be and it looks like bone under the skin.... there was no signs of being attacked..but i really dont know...I apologize for the crappy pictures but my phone was all i had......so sad hes about 9" already....

when they lose their eyes the skin heals over like that
must have been a strong one to survive an attack like that
 
I've had several catfish without eyes and have a flash zebra right now with only one. I got him at 4" without the eye. Catfish are amazingly strong willed. I find the ones without eyes are much more aggressive than the ones with them. They cannot see and will eat virtually anything you put in the tank with them. I once caught a channel cat that had obviously had nearly half of his head bitten off to include half of his lower jaw, half of his upper jaw, and his eye on that side, but he was still feeding and it was all healed up. Many times catfish are born without eyes, but most without them are probably victims of attack. I'd definitely take him if someone was willing to ship.
