Sad sad! I read it and gasped and my mom thought I had hurt myself! Poor oscar! And I dont even like them. Lets hope its a scam from a lazy person, but still it shows that people need more education before they can get even a goldfish.

yea right no oscar can live for 2 years+ in a 10g
That's was my 1st thought. It seems most people can't manage to keep Oscars alive for even a year in a bigger tank. Sad though because they're my "fish of choice".

Thought did occur to me that he might be scamming for a free tank. Not sure what is worse - trying to pawn off a free tank or keeping an oscar in a ten gallon?

That's why pet stores associates should also know about the fish they are selling and give people info on the fish that they are buying but sometimes they themselves don't know anything about it.

That is sad. It really bothers me when people buy fish before they know anything about them. I hate going to pet smart or petco and see a kids parents buying them any fish the kid might want, just to please the kid. In the end, those fish will end up dead. These stores should never sell fish that get large. Pacus I think suffer the most, because they look like piranha and every little kid wants a killer fish. Most parents could care less about a living thing only see a cheap price tag, and if it dies they go out and buy another one. The people who work in these chain stores don't care either. Most of them don't know anything about fish at all.

dude how long could u really have a oscar in a 10 gallon? wouldnt it die in a few months of being stressed out?

Pacu - Either die in a small tank or get eaten when it grows up???

What would you choose? ^^

unfortunately too many idiots do this. the longer your on the site the more it will become apparent. not from the members here though but in the stories they tell, particularly the guys that work in the fish stores.

seriously, this stuff gets put up here all the time and it's silly. Some people are misinformed and some people are just plain dumb.

Live and learn, not everyone is going to do what is right.

We should talk about how much walmart sucks at selling fish some more too....
