I want to get him either way but the tank he would be going into still has about 6 weeks to cycle. But I might see if I can have the guy put him down in the basement until I'm ready for him. Before I make that call I have another question. Its a male around 4" in disc diameter, how long do I have until he gets horny n starts wanting my female motoro which is at 10-11"? My original plan was to get another female ray and then later on get a male which I both wanted to be hens. But rays dont come around here much so when I see one I get excited lol.

Its not a true Hystrix, most likely what Colombia calls Hystrix, which is Orbignyi. If its a Orb, not worth $25 in the conditions. Needs tons of TLC!

Ok some other people need to chim in. I called and he said the chunk was from another ray. He got it from one of the 25 people he gets fish from and was told it was wc hystix. And he would hold it for me.

go snap a better picture! it may be an orb by the color... not 100%.. to me tail looks hystrix.

there is a big difference in max size from orb and hystrix.......................
get a picture from the side or from straight on top


or as ironwood said, ask where it came from brazil or columbia or peru

Remember most baby or new imported hystrix are real washed out...

orbs's usually have "eyebrows" and bulgy eyes
hystrix usually have tall body's.
