Saxatilis or lepidota????

Dorsal fin might give you a better idea. You'll definately know for sure when they hit the 6 inch mark though. The rosey ventral coloration will start to show on females at around that size if they are healthy. From what I've read, any roseyness on the ventral side of their body means they are definitely female. I can see the dorsal spots on one of them in the picture, I know that my female has spots on her dorsal fin, but they didn't become clearly spots until she was almost 7 inches long.

They both appear to be female to me bacause of the light/white sub-marginal stripe with black dots in the soft rays of the dorsal fins of both fish, better pics with extended dorsal fins would help to clarify this

Sorry if you had to repeat yourself, but in fact I never paid to much atention to that light sub-marginal stripe on their dorsals.

I have played the video that I posted, again...and after carefully seeing some freezed images of the male, I realize that he doesn´t show that light stripe. So I was assuming that some sp. "lepidota" males could show that caractheristic.
But they are very similar.....

Hope that doesn't muddy the water too much

In murky waters all the "Saxatalis" live!!!!!!!:screwy:

cheers,
