I had it lower but he didn't seem happy with it, so I raised it and just added logs and plants everywhere, and now he is vastly more active and flies around the tank everywhere. I guess the key here is a large open spot that is deep enough to allow him room to play, with lots of climbing areas on the sides. He can also swim pretty good which is odd, since I have never seen another AST swim before.

Yeah I agree, i am just nervous about the fact mine is so young and do not feel comfortable with the water level being higher than what his neck can stretch. I will give mine some time and then maybe raise the water level. i just posted pics of his new tank too.

Yeah I took baby steps and only raised it once I noticed him looking for deeper water and staying in it more.
