Say Cheeze, new Chompers the AST action shots!!!!!

Oh your going to kill me Kev, I went and added more water LOL. For some damn reason Chompers is unlike any other AST I have kept and likes free swimming, let me tell you that seeing a AST swimming around like a little Dino is a sight LOL. So I added more water, but I did add a huge piece of wood and some fake duck weed in the tank that he can climb and hang off of. As long as he is happy, I'll keep it this way. Been like this two days now, and he seems to love it and has no issues. He just paddles up to the top and floats on the surface to breath, and plops back to the bottom to hunt like any other turtle.

That's cool. I wish my guy would! Well he might, but I am being a wuss about it. My little guy ALWAYS has his head up looking at everything. He is nosy. Oh, i went to siphon his tank (water too shallow for filter) last night and he attacked the hose! it is was bigger than he is!

See that is the issue, Chompers is more like a Slider or something than a Snapping Turtle, he swims constantly, chills with the other Turtles, I saw him basking once with my Softshell Turtle, he begs at the front of the tank with them, likes to be hand fed, like to be handled, and is docile and has never once snapped or hissed. I am wondering if the fact that he is the product of years of captive breeding has impacted his behavior some, might be a interesting research paper for me LOL.

well mine does the begging and never gives me trouble when i pick him up either. he does protect his tank with vigilance though. Mine is also captive bred.
