saying goodbye to MFK

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
man thats how most of my family members are...they just act like they like my fishy hobby, but after late at night a month ago it wasn't true...they didn't like it at all they just didn't want to admit it. =[ That is why ive always stayed downstairs with my fish tanks and do my homework and everything i do at school down their...even during dinner i go down their by myself. They never really appreciate all the hard work and time and effort i do to keep my tank and fishes in the most healthiest way to see them. Ive paid for the fish food with my own hard money that i only get on whatever the occasion it is like Christmas and my birthday...then after that i just have to save up money with whatever way i can think of. Even when i ask if i can borrow some extra cash on somethings that are needed to the tank they say no...and they think i don't need heaters for my tanks when my fishes are tropicals...='/ only time i ever talk to them is when i get home from school when they ask how was school and when im going to my room. Thats why I need to sell off away most of my bigger fishes to start on the 540 gallon this week.

The economy also makes people more aggressive over money.

Don't leave the hobby, just do things on your own now.
Keep the passion regardless.

yup. Just keep strong bro...you'll pull through this hardship your going through right now. Just listen to your heart and follow it. If and when your ready you can move on in your life and live with maybe your friend or something...thats what ive been feeling on what maybe be done after school is all done for me. After college that is.

For the people who live with your parents....You have to understand that your parents are paying the bills..For example if your parents have to pay for water and electricity, owning fish tanks do add to the bills..I guess you have to be on your own to understand money management..You just have to understant where they are coming from..

I'm not trying to be funny. There are ways to get your point through. When I was being raised growing up my father always said that he makes enough money to feed us so if I want to eat go eat and never go hungry. Well one time in college my Dad got pissed about all the moeny I spent on food. He was pissed then said I had to live on $40 for a month or two before he'd send me more money. I thought hard how to strech the money. I used it all to buy Top Ramen. At that time it was on sale for either 10 for a $1 or 12 for a $1. I never complained about what my Dad said. My Mom called me one day and asked what I was eating. I told her Top Ramen for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She hung up the phone and gave my Dad a good screaming. Saying that I was a good kid and I don't spend the money or anything I don't need except food. My Dad finally called me back and sent me more money right away. Saying that he was wrong to be so harsh and scream at me for something he told me time and time again when I was growing up.

My point is that I never complained I just shut up and took it. Don't argue cause it will get you nowhere. If you silently protest (in my case the top ramen even if I didn't intend it to be that way) one or both of your parents will realize one day that you are a good kid and the fish hobby is nothing compared to what other kids are doing with their money.

Anyways I apologize if I you guys think I ruined the thread but sometimes serious topics like these need some lightening up.

You didn't ruin anything. Sometimes laughter is needed to lighten moods and is always a great healer.

Stick with it Edwin. If nothing else follow the advice of many of the others,
don't sell the tanks store them for another day.
There is no reason to get into a screaming match with your parents, cause when it comes down to it, it is there home and that is what will be thrown into your face. Let things relax and try to go back as it was. But silently make plans to move into your own place.
Ultimately you don't have to own fish to share your knowledge or advice with others.

Take from me, I am 44 years old with three teenagers and that is what I do, but usually in the end it is me that gives in.
