SB Endy & PBB pics

According to Jusen Leirn, the people importing these to Japan, there is only one type bred that is reported to be Turkana mother x Chad father.
The mother fish came from Kamihata from their 2008 expedition Lake Turkana, Female has produced many times before and always with bent finnage sometimes almost reversed finnage, though the mother has no genetic defects herself.
This can all be read in the Aqua-Mania September issue, which I will without fail be buying!

Great news for those that didn't have a chance to own one before.
I have ordered a few just for fun (at ¥3500 - $35us, crazy not too!) and to maybe bulk out one of my tanks instead of an Endli bulk out.

I don't have high hopes for the quality as they grow, but there is always WC for quality pieces!

Looking at it again, I agree I can see 14 fin lets for sure and maybe a 15th. (how we count them here in Japan)

I have the contact that was given to me by trix and was told by the phone that they now have pure turkana breed. Still who knows.... I'm just assuming as that was she told me to. Anyhow they are cheap PBB and I can jsut do surgery for the imperfect finlets as I've done so in the past with WC laps with imperfect finlets. So that's no problem to me. As for the quality.... I will select the best looking one and keep buying till I see a potential PBB. It can improve once under my care but still not expecting much. I my plan was to have a PBB substrates. Already got endlis and laps. Now I just wanna add ansorgii and congi next.

Hopefully the wifey allows me. Lol!!!! I wanna be back at my game as I used to be.

This picture is taken right after I got him so he is darker now

Dude ever thought of switching to a dark substrate?
You will see the difference.

Here are some picture of how a pbb look in a dark bottom tank

Looks nice IMO. Pictures don't belong to me but fish2102 from my local fish forum
He got it pale just like yours.

Yeah Spiritofthesoul, Im going to change it soon. He's in a growout now so I will change it when I move him in a few days. Thanks for reminding me.

I would recommend a mix of red (preferably crushed garnet or quartz) mixed with a little black.
This will give you the best of both worlds, green color and contrast.
Whilst only black will make the green "pop", it often results in loss of contrast (pattern)
Here is one of my Wild PBB on said substrate mix:

One of my Kamihata PBB on same substrate:

Same fish on Black only:

It's all down to personal preference at the end of the day.
But I believe one of PBBs best traits is its contrast!

^ 90% red with 10% black :D

It's all down to personal preference at the end of the day.

agree

some like washed out pale
some like black
some like contrast

Personally I like it black with a little contrast for PBB

Anyhow not related to thread, I like a washed out ornate. Looks pretty unique imo as majority are black and yellow
Here is mine in the past (ignore the substrate, the whiteness came from stress as I placed in it a bucket while changing substrate, but i'm sure white substrate would have similar effect). Now turn back to black since I changed to black quartz
