SCALARE ALTUM - what are these?

Before clicking on the link, I would have guessed 'peruvian altums' ... which are a scalare of cf. scalare variant ...

After the link though, not so much.

If I recall correctly they are wild scalare angel from Peru as stated. They differ from the Columbian Altums in that the scalare tend to have a bigger overall body size as oppose to the Columbian altum with have taller fins. The Columbian's also have more brownish red in their coloration. The Altums are more vertically compressed as opposed to scalare.

They look like wild regular scalare to me. One or two hinted towards leopoldi's with regards to the profile but there was no discernible spot at the base of the dorsal.

What is the price considered for those at $30? Expensive, reasonable or cheap?

The ones in the pic are definitely not altums. They look like scalare with thinner bars, like altum have.

Just to clarify they are 6 for $30, so John is obviously not selling them as altums.

that's the confusing part....they look a little bit like both...but I know very little about angels :D

Honestly they look like the dude bought a bunch of "veiled angelfish" from a pet store and is reselling them for more. I wouldn't buy those because they look very mixed (as stated above)

Knowing John I honestly don't think that's the case. He imports loads of fish and there's no way he would mess with $5 fish......

maybe these?

At 6 for $30 dollars for FO scalare, I don't think think that is bad at all (For the States from what I have gathered. The price alone is an indication to me at least that they are not rarer Peruvian altums and so I still think Wild scalare. There are wild pteraphyllum scalare with thinner stripes. One example I can think of is referred to as Pterophyllum scalare "Manacapuru".
