My leichardti decided to go for a jump last night.

He smashed through the glass lids on the tank and dropped about 6ft onto the ground.

The important thing is that he is fine, still swimming and nothing seems broken but he has lost a quite a few scales.

Should I add anything to the water or just leave it? Will they grow back normally?

Cheers,
Steve

If it aint broke... well you know the line.
Some salt can be added to prevent fungus and calm the fish down.
Other than that, if its fine then just keep a close eye on it.

Scales will definitely grow back. It will take some time but not as long as missing barbels.

salt and stress coat will do the job

arowana scales grow back rapidly

BUT

it takes afew months for the scales to regain their full color

mine jumped out one time ( twice actually), completely knocking off the hood and was flopping around on the floor, i couldnt get her by hand becasue she was way to strong and slippery, so grabbed her with a towel and put her back in the tank, my god she was one powerful fish, she cut up her head pretty good and lost quite afew scales. scales grew back completely in 2 weeks but look about 3 months to regain the silver pinkish color, pulled through very nicely she did  .

Sounds like my guy too.

So slippery and powerful, was really hard to get hold of. Blood was spraying out everywhere too. It was actually spraying. I dont know where it was coming from though. My guy was even trying to bite me

omg spraying????

can you figure out from where it was coming from?

Dad reakons he saw it coming from the gills, which cant be good.

Im too afraid to go too close to the tank right now and I have the lights off so I cant really see where it may be coming from.

No blood is in the water and he is swimming freely like always so im guessing he is going to pull through.

I just noticed that there are scales all over the bottom of the tank.

Is this enough to make the water quality really bad?? Should I do a water change??

I didnt really want to do a water change just yet incase he is still a bit freaked.
