Hey "Dave"....I think you are trying to steal this guy's tank that I saw on Craigslist.........

That's a dumb scam. Since aquariums for sale are physically picked up and not shipped, I wonder how they were planning to get away with the scam.

They normally ask for a deposit at the moment of sale via Western Union. Sometimes they ask for the entire amount before the pickup date. Whatever they can get before the buyer realizes it's a scam is free money (albeit ill-gotten).

this is the email i got back from "him"

Hello,
I am based in Austin, TX. But, this year, I started my holidays earlier and I am no longer at home. I am trying to sell this one for almost two weeks. Before leaving, I have arranged everything with UPS & eBay Trust & Safe Department, known as Square Trade as well, to insure that my deal will be a legit and a secure one.
So, everything will be done through the eBay Trust and Safe Department co-working with UPS shipping service. Everything will be insured by them. Then, if you want to buy my stuff, you will have only to let me know your full name and address and I will contact them right away regarding our transaction. They will send you an invoice as soon as possible and they will let you know what you have to do.
The eBay T&S Department will offer you 7 days to inspect it and if something will go wrong after this period, I will 100% refund you in 24 hours.
In order to start the transaction please let me know your final decision.
Thanks

these scams happen all the time, this guy probably operates from west africa- this is similar to 419 scams. - ever heard of scam baiting? check out this site 419EATER.com- its funny:)

My guess is Indonesia. I had the same experience with a 1400 gal I listed on ebay, that somebody copied and posted on aquabid. I messed with him for about a month. He gave me 2 different bank accounts to wire money to that were located in Indonesia.

Tell him you deal in cash only, and want to mail it to him. See if he will give you an address.
