I am very new to owning my own aquarium. I have a bala shark and a panther catfish that i have had for 2 weeks now. Whenever i walk up to or walk by my tank my catfish freaks out and hides behind plants until i leave. The bala shark swims to the top waiting for food. I was wondering if anyone could help me with the catfish

Is this what you mean by Panther catfish?

If so, do a google search for "pictus catfish"

in my experience raphaels are wimps...mine i hardly see but now they r too fat and their bellys poke out the side of their hiding places

oh yea, i meant by most smaller cats are wimps lol, tbh iv never heard of a panther cat

if its a pictus, I have 3 myself and the first 2 weeks they were so skittish it was ridiculous! but they got used to the tank and their tankmates, so theyre calm and cool now

Yes that is the one and i thought it was panther because i saw on a website a pic of it and it was called panther catfish. Thank you very much for the helpful information

Someone needs to own a clown pl*co. Small cat. Monster attitude.

They prefer to be in groups, add a couple more and they will likely be more comfortable.

For sure. Somewhere around 5 is good. But smallest would be 3.
