My fish used to be really cool and a lot of them would swim in the open water. I did a major tank remodel about 3 weeks ago and now EVERBODY is so scared of me. They all scatter and hide when I walk in the room. And nobody comes out for food unless I sit down and watch with the food in the tank for almost an hour. But even then after they start coming out one slight move of a muscle, a tiny vibration, the creaking of the floor, etc they all duck and cover. My little plecos get really scared around me and as i walk closer to the tank they flare at me and then run away after I get too close. Some of the fish don't care like the discus, they puff up their chests and swim up to the glass like royalty, the catfish and gobies, and stuff get scared. They are really skittish. Is their an easy way to form a bond with fish? Do you think trying hand feeding would work?

Dude, you just completely changed their entire world as they knew it. It will take them quite a while to get comfortable again.

Bonding with community fish is basically impossible. Some monsters such as Oscars, midevils, datnoids and others can be more pet-like. I have an Oscar that loves when I pet it.

Fish do this, when i first put my fishes in my 120 every fish besides my birchir was very skitish. Know aabout 2 weeks later they are not very skitish anymore. just give your fish time they will be fine... i would feed them then walk away...

Agreed with both giving them time to adjust, and to spend more time with them...

Even the inhabitants in my planted tank come up to the glass now when they think its feeding time, but when they first went in, they would all scatter as well...

Maybe your fish read your posts and know what awaits them. LOL! You just disturbed their environment. It may take some time. Any dither fish in the tank? Perhaps with your new setup the fish see your shadow and get scared. Try more lighting in the room.

Is this the tank with the duckweed?
