i don't know how long you have had the fish, but if you have just recently got or moved it to a new tank it might take a while for it to claim the tank as its own and become agressive. if you have had it for a long time maybe its just a late bloomer.

There isn't a yes/no answer to that question, every fish is different.

It depends on many variables...
Sex
Age/maturity
Breeding/nonbreeding
Temperament/disposition
Tanksize/tankmates
How comfortable is it with it's habitat.

When I had mine in a 50gal (36X18) it would always hide when I did tank maintenance.
The minute I put him in his 75gal (48X18) he became very territorial and now tries to shred my hands every time I clean the tank. I had to get a pair of Aquagloves just so I could clean the tank.

Burt:)

You might have a female at a juvi stage thats why it acts like that. If you do have a male it will soon become very aggressive. All my midas/red devils once hit certain size really became problematic to community tanks, eventually end up solo (which is not bad, since the fish is kept in perfect show quality - no damage).

It's not part of the post reply, it's a 'sig line', such as the my "minimum means maximum" and etc.
