Scariest movie I've ever seen was by far the The Blob... 
When I was 8, that movie terrified me, lol. Both the remake and the original.
On a more serious note, I did watch the strangers not too long ago. I thought it was pretty good, the only problem was that whenever I saw "the strangers", I always either thought of clowns or Slipknot.
