PfISD parents and guardians:
Pflugerville ISD police are investigating social media threats made this weekend by people dressed as clowns against several PfISD schools. Similar threats have been reported at schools in several states, as well as numerous Central Texas and Austin-area schools. At this time, our police have found no validity to the threats.
The safety and security of our students is our top priority. While we have no reason to believe there is any credible threat to the safety of PfISD students or staff members, we are investigating any and all threats. Whether they are made against an individual or an entire school, such threats are a serious matter. Several people nationally have been arrested in recent weeks for making false clown threats and they face serious consequences. Threatening schools is a criminal matter, even if a person posting on social media thinks it is only a joke.
Again, the safety of our students is our top priority. It has not been necessary to make any operational changes as a result of these threats, but we wanted you to be aware of this situation.
If you or your child observe any suspicious behavior related to these “clown threats,” or any other threats made to schools or individuals, please report these immediately to the Pflugerville ISD police department by calling 9-1-1 for emergency police response, or 512-670-5551 for non-emergency police response.
