Scary sight!!

You might not think this Gulper looks scary, but he is. I come home and see that distended gut and have to frantically do a head count. Since all my fish are catfish and stingrays I have to lift all the decor in the tank to do the head count. Plus I have Woodcats who hide way to well(like in the crevis of big rocks) so it takes me quite awhile to confirm that they're still intact. It's at a point where I have a book and checklist I go thru so as to make sure I don't miss anyone.

if i had all those cats in the same tank at that sizes ie; when they grow the fastest and the wild card hybrid vigor of the RTCxTSN i would have got hyper tension by now

Gulpers puff themselves up with water from time to time. I can never tell if it's water or a hapless fish. They're great fish I was hand feeding them 5 hours after I got them. Mind you they were shipped to me and had just spent 24 hours in packaging and transport. I guess they're not easily unnerved. Great fish one of my favorites and always out of my price range till recently.

whoa! but are you sure none of your other cats or small rays get eaten by your Gulper cat? cause it looks like something is their....but you may be right on one thing about it maybe just inhaling air....but how!? it can't get air unless it swims up to the top of the water line....cause if it tried to take in air under the water line..it would just get water which I think could drown it or like suffocate it

Nah it was water I know from research that they do it from time to time. Also moments later he was back to normal. It isn't so easy to tell when he's doing it though and I'm gettin some grey hairs because of it.
