That's what I was thinking...but I dont quite know how big these guys get though. I wanted to put a school of these scats with my dats, but like I said I didn't know howbig these guys get what their personalities are like and if these guys would be able to live long term in a full fresh tank...
 
also what is the growth rate of these guys as well. I have some baby Indos and I am worried that the scats would out grow the dats..
 
Fishbase lists 30 cm (12 inches) as max size. IME, scats grow pretty quickly, although I've only kept green, ruby, and silver scats before.

They occur naturally in FW, BW, and SW. I recall that Wes has kept them in FW without problems. At a minimum, I'd say hard alkaline conditions are required for FW. I'm going to either put mine in my Tropheus tank or with my dats and Madagascan cichlids. Both tanks have lots of crushed coral substrate, plus I've added a touch of salt (1 tsp/gal.) to the dat tank to ward off the dreaded "dat disease." Can't wait to get them. :headbang2
