yeah they came from my local fish dealer who had the scats in fresh water. As i read more and more about the scats they can live in fresh water but should be in brackish. In other words i have to slowly turn the tank into a brackish tank which i'm but in my area it's hard to get brackish fish so i have a few tropicals in there just to fill the tank out with only low salt content dosen't efect them at all. Moving all the tropicals out in the next 2 weeks have tracked down some brackish fish and live rock to put in. Here i full pic of the tank. (hood is coming too). Tank is only 3 months old.

Just by the way, live rock is normally for marine tank only, and putting it in a brackish system may prove to be a pointless task, as all the living goodies on the rock will perish in brackish water.

but will then be repopulated by new goodies. I think that the key is that the rock is very porous and has lots of surface area.

My tank is 110 gal 6ft. The scats are a fast grower the red or yellow spotted scat toke around 12 to 18 months to what he is now and the silver seems to be on the same track. Very nice fish to look at and have great personality about them. I read a lot where they say they are agressive but never seen it myself.
Actually, what will happen is when you add LR to a lower SG, the life in there die off & creates a HUGE ammonia/nitrite spike, crashing the entire system. Please don't!
