I like scats, what salinity do you plan to use?

Ill start at about 1 tablespoon of salt per gallon and then work up from there to about 18-21 tablespoons per 10 gallons (dont know the exact salinity but from what ive read thats a good amount for scats)

Went by the lfs today and bought not 1... not 2... but 8! green scats, now theres the ultimate 55g tank, with 9 green scats, 1 silver scats, and 1 ruby scat. Now before the flamers start going crazy with the "theyll get the size of dinner plates", Believe me I know this and ive worked it out with the pet store that ill return them for smaller ones when they hit the 5-6" mark. Right now theyre all about 2" long and very cute =). Ill post a video of them eating soon. (haters need not comment)

I like the silvers and the Tetracanthus.

Don't they eat poop? That's how they got the name scat because scat means poop.

They are neat fish. I don't think I will ever have one but I love to watch them at the stores.

Wait your just going to grow them out and replace them with new babies??

Only if I dont get a bigger tank for them (hoping my mom would let me)

Btw anyone know how fast they grow? Im feeding them all 3-4 cubes of frozen brine shrimp a day to every other day

I know you said that you worked a deal with the LFS but do they stock them as brackish. When you return them are they going to put them directly back in freshwater may be certain death if they do so. I hope you can get a bigger tank, that many Scats in a tank would be awesome. The stuff my dreams are made of.

I would suggest you feed them pellets because you won't have enough brine shrimp to feed them in a few months. Also feed them some greens, they will appreciate it. As for growth rate, I would say enjoy your scats for like 4-5 months because then you will be trading them in for smaller ones. The silver scats have the fastest growth rate of the scats you purchased.
