That's not my first choice. They require different water chemistry, but if you are keeping your params toward neutral they would be fine. They don't get very big but they do like to school so you would be best served to get say 5 of them....

we have well water and its at about 8.2 pH
but would the params really mess with them that much?
and arent they predators, i ahve som little cichlids in there

Clown Loaches do not grow very fast, so you would be growing them out for quite some time in a 10 gallon.

How many should you get? Hob big of a tank do you have?

its a 55
so no on the grow out?

and what about hte skunks

I'm on par with you bucks. Im going to be picking up a new 55 gallon tank soon. I've been questioning to get some CL's to go along with a mix of about 9 mbuna's

Im worried that the High PH will kill them off. But i have read others have had no problems...

Quite possibly buy the CL's at a larger size, then wont have to wait for grow out.

thanks guys. CLs it is

how large should i get them and shouuld i add them all at once.

and ive heard that they get ick really easily. how can i avoid that, or is 82* too warm for ick?

Clown loaches are great fish but a 55g tank isnt big enough for a school of fish that get 12-16" long. The skunk loaches or striata are a much better choice for that size tank.

i would love some synos

but as i said before, there are none around here

oh sorry didn't really read the whole thing. loaches work pretty good or maybe a pictus cat if you have a petco near they usually have something cheap like that to try
