School Fish Tank in Terrible Condition (please help me)!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Stock is down to this in the tank:

3 black mollies (female about 1 week pregnant)
3 neon tetras
2 glofish
1 peppered cory
1 common pleco

Talking to the secretary in there every day I hear her say the tank looks ugly and she feels bad for the fish. I also heard the guidance counselor who owns it say "if we have to spend money on it it's not worth it we'll just have to break it down". And they are probably either selling it to me really cheap or giving it to me is the idea I got, they just are tired of it.

A proper fish tank in a school setting can be an amazing thing. I see a lot of potential in those pictures and nothing a couple days after school a week and some elbow grease couldn't fix! I'd do everything possible to keep that tank in the school, wish I had the opportunity in my grade school.

id like to but they have literally nothing but water clarifier and food and won't spend another PENNY on it. Also I still have not been able to have a conversation For more than 30 seconds with the guy before he says "I gotta go" or "don't worry about it".

Why not volunteer to start doing partial water changes and otherwise maintaining it?

All it takes is an algae pad, some chlorine remover, a bucket and a siphon... and a little of your time each week or two (either before or after school).

Do you have a volunteer service requirement for your school? This could go toward it.

Are you in a science class? Let your teacher know and see what he/she has to say.

Are other kids in your school into fish? I'd bet that someone will ask to help if they see you cleaning the tank.

It just takes a little initiative.

Matt
