Gone fishin...
I'm thinkin about going with a school of Clown Loaches as tank-mates for my Jack Dempsey and my Tiger Oscar in their 150 gal.

I'm pretty sure they'd make a good clean-up-crew for the messy ones.

Can Clown loaches be kept with a Jack Dempsey? If so, how many would you put in a 150gal with the two I have?

(Upgrading is not a possibility)

Yes they can, clown loaches were one of the few fish my oscar would ignore. Right now I have 5 in my 150 with a JD and other fish. I moved my oscar howver he wasn't getting along with other fish but never once messed with my clowns. I would suggest going no lower then 5 in a school. They can grow rather large but takes a long time.

you can keep clown loaches with JD's however I would do it with cation as your JD will grow much faster than the loaches and if he ever decides to eat one for a snack they will get lodged in his throat and there is really no way to get him out. just keep that in mind. if you can buy loaches that are bigger than your JD :)

I doubt a JD will ever attack them, especially in a 150 gallon. I have some smaller catfish that even get ignored by my Midas, and JD's are a lot less aggressive then Midas.

From my experience it seems like bottom dweller or ones that spend most of there time on the bottom tend to get ingnored by other rather aggressive fish like oscars, gts, jds etc that tend to spend most of there time in the middle to top of the tank. That's just what I have seen from my experience. If however there small enought to get swalled this could very easily happen.

I had 1" African cichlids my 8" JD wouldn't touch. He also won't eat rosy red feeders either. However he did beat on my red-fin Tinfoil Barb, back when he was in a 20 gal he killed a Clown Knife.

He not as aggressive in a 55 gal, so I'm assuming when he gets moved to the 150 he'll be even less aggressive? I hope :irked:

But anyway thanks guys. I'll go with 5 of The Clown Loaches!

The only thing I'm worried about is my JD really enjoys his homemade PVC cave, and he's a lil bit territorial over it.. Though I don't see him "Swallowing" a C.Loach, I'm afraid he might bully them to death.

My JD does spend most of his time in the middle of the tank, but he "often" goes to his cave. Just worried...

I know they aren't that aggressive. I'm just sayin that's the chance you'll take. I've been wanting to add CLs to my fronotsa tank for awhile but i'm afraid i'll lose a $100 fish.
