My girlfriend and I have a 35 gallon tank with 2 GT's and there are 2 catfish in there as well. The GT's are about 5 and 3 inches long, and both the catfish are around 5. We are trying to find a new home for the catfish because we know that tank is not big enough for them. The GT's are awefully skiddish, so I wanted to get some Tiger barbs or something like that. Do you have any suggestions for type of fish to put with them? and How many would work in this 35 Gallon set up?

i agree, exept if the GTs are from 1 to 3 inch inches and you are going to move them in one week.
move the GTs to a bigger tank or get rid of them, and put some tetras in the 30 gallon.

Ya, I am all about getting the bigger tank asap... The hard part is convincing my girlfriend we need to do it... and I figured the GT's would be ok in there for a lil while longer, but knew we would have to upgrade eventually.

yeah i wouldnt add any schooling fish until you have them moved to a bigger tank and then if you do decide to do tiger barbs make sure your have AT LEAST 6 or they will nip the crap out of the Gts fins

giant danios, or australian rainbows
numbers id say 6 or so or do both
but need a bigger tank first

That is what I want to do eventually... Anyone else agree that it would be too crowded in the 35 with some schooling fish?
too crowded already, even for one gt, let alone everything else you are talking about...you need a bigger tank or more suitable fish for that size or you are going to have a mess on your hands

Don't get any more fish until you have a bigger tank. The minimum for a
GT is a 40g but i keep mine in a 55g so i can have more tankmates. I would wait until you get the bigger tank. As for schooling fish, Giant danios work really well.
