Schooling Fish to go with GT's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
for a male GT the minimum tank that should be considered is a 55 for life but even then this will become small should it hit 10"+ because of a 55's footprint. they can hit 12"+ this would make a 55 very cramped for turning.
a 75 would be better, especially as you have two of them, because the footprint is bigger.
no more fish until you get a bigger tank, if you cant one then the GT's will need to be rehomed as a 35 is far too small.

are they a mated pair?

Yes, having 2 aggressive fish in a confined area is a recipe for disaster. The GTs will fight very much.

You need a bigger tank as pointed out. for the 2 GTs a 75 gallon or greater should be good.

Silver Dollars are awesome dithers for GTs and I might add are also from South America.

Tiger Barbs would do good, but yeah, bigger tank is a must!

I have two and they look a tad cramped in a 75 haha. But since you know that 35 gallons is too small for the fish you have I think we can all quit posting about how small your tank is lol.

I think you can never go wrong with a school of Giant Danios. They look fantastic in a nice sized group and would do well to bring out the personality of your GTs.

I have my 8 inch male GT in a 50g to himself and he dosent have alot of room leftover. 50g for a GT is waay too small, im getting a 120g next week for my GT.
