Lets say you have a MONSTER tank with a 12" RTC and a 12" Silver Arowana. Would you be able to add about an 8" Oscar and a school of a smaller cichlids?

Off hand I dont know any schooling cichlids but I mean just a school of about 4-6" cichlids? Something like Jack Dempseys or Convicts? Again, I dont know if these are schooling fish but you get the idea.

cichlids or schooling fish will be fine as long as there big enough which would have to be pretty big don't know of any schooling cichlids some Geos school i think but other then that i'd say if you wan't a shoal of fish go for large barbs

Your oscar would probably be ok.. for a while. Generally the rule is mixing big fish with small fish is a no-no. So your JD's, others would probably have to be large and/or you'd need to keep the monsters in that tank well fed for it to even have a chance of working. Mouth size/fish body shape is another thing to consider when thinking if they will get eaten or not.

I'd say stay away from any stream lined schooling fish then.. would be easier to swallow than a boxier/more oval fish..I would think? I second the geos.. or if you had convicts, if they spawned you'd have free food.

Cyp's are cichlids that school, but obviously not compatible with the suggested tank. I'd go with adult geo's

Ohhh forgot about oscars they will school when kept in large groups in large tanks you would need adult oscars to have a chance of them not being eaten

If you mean cichlids could be schooling fish, that will be if your cichlids so happen to be fry or juveniles. You obviously can't have RTC's in a home aquaria and anything will be gobbled quite quickly.

is this hypothetical? How big of a tank...Hypothetically speaking

ha ha I was about to ask how Monster is Monster lol...

I guess I should clarify what "monster" is on this site considering it ranges from 300-50,000 gallons. I havent worked out the exact details of it yet. I was planning about 1500 gallons but then I started thinking I might want a little more room. Probably in the 2000-3000 gallon range. It all depends on what it would be worth doing. I think fish look very cool when they swim around in schools and I wasnt aware of any fish that were large enough that would stay in packs.
