Schooling fish?

I am looking for a species that schools together. I like the shoaling effect of large schools and wanted to know what species does this best.

I would like to know which would be best to keep in a 30gal. I am looking for a group that is hardy and colorful.

Tetras are the way to go with schooling fish. Although livebearers can also be considered schoolers.

I have tried a small group of neon tetras in a 10 gal and 10 out of 15 died within a week. I asked the manager of the LFS where they were purchased and he said he has the same problem with them. he said he buys 80 per week, sells around 30-40 but the rest die.

so it must be where his distributor gets them from. any ideas where to purchase healthy neons online?

If you want neons,look into cardinal tetra.They look very similar,better looking IMO,and are much hardier.
