That's amazing John. Im really diggin that big pond. SOme black aro's would be cool in there to breed as well as the other cichla. Looking forward to seeing you have tons of cichla again. Hope the weather is better for ya this year.

Im getting excited! I threw 3 more breeder size females in their and the remainder males I had are already with them, showing dominace. I have a total of 10 pairs now, and Im finished stocking with breeding stock. The new pairs will be spawning in 2 weeks tops. My first batches of eggs should start hatching on 4/16 - 4/18/09. I will keep all of you posted. I have 5 pairs of spangeled occel and 5 pairs of regular occel.

The news keeps getting better, I seen some peacocks on the other side keep exploding fish on top of the water so I walked over and found a spangeled pair spawn. This spawn is huge close to 3000 eggs. I will post a whole pond shot and pics of the spawn. 3 spawns this week!

You said you will remove the bass for the winter. How do you capture the fish in such a large lake? Net? Hook and line?

Do the fish come up to you when you approach the lake? or do they spook like your ray?
