this sucks! off from work with the worst sciatic pain ever. cant even walk outside to the fishroom. anyone ever have a sever case of this? i had an mri done like 2 years ago for it. said i have 4 discs completely shot and arthritis growing on my spine. last time i was out of work 6 months with it. im staying in bed this time and see if i cant heal up quiker instead of keep getting up and doing stuff. its very hard for me to just lay in bed or sit down and not do anything. ive been on mfk like 25 times today wich isnt a bad thing except i cant work on my tanks! cant go buy fish, fishfood... ugh im just *****ing. first time posting in the lounge. yay me

That really sucks!

I have two blown discs in my lower back. Degenerative disk disease is VERY painful for younger people, and it can even happen to athletes! Did you doctors give you any stretches and exercises to do to strengthen your core muscles (abs and back)? Ask to see if physical therapy might be good for you. The muscles, if strong enough, will help relieve pressure on your nerves because they will be supporting your spine (which is what the disks normally do). If you start, the first few times will have you be sore the day after, but you should be able to feel a difference if you do it for three days in a row. The types of exercises (if this is even an option for you) will differ patient to patient. Please seriously consider this, if it turns out to be an option!

thanks! i did physical theropy for 1 week straight when i went back to work. i had to show i was able to perform. the dr said i did everything no problem. but didnt really give me anything to do on a daily basis or at least i dont recall. i remember now how bad this sucks lol. last time i got 4 rides in an ambulance to the emergency sciatic ward. i was like wow theres an actual wing at the hospital dedicated to this pain

Argh. nerve pain is the worst. it'll wear u down to a terrible place.
I have titanium rods & screws in my spine, holding a bone graft which fuses the vertebrae together.
Some words to the wise: Drs are not all equally adept at interpreting MRI's.
When your nerve is being impinged, it can become irreversibly damaged so that pain may remain, even after impingement is fixed. SO find a neurosurgeon/spine specialist to read MRI. and one who will seek to solve it, ASAP.
"Toughing it out" does not pay off with nerves.

Beware- any PT that hurts can cause harm.
If a PT digitally controlled traction bed relieves pain during sessions, even if it returns immediately, can indicate possible success with certain medical interventions.

Indispensible meds: Anti-inflamatories and flexaril, around the clock.= reduce tissue swelling at injury and release muscles from pulling things into the nerve(s). the results (or lack of) also help Dr with 1 diagnostic aspect.

Surgery was the best thing I ever did. wish I'd caved in years earlier. am left with nerve damage instead. but it's livable now.

ant-inflammatories PLUS flexaril. the muscles spasm into tight wads. they pull things out of place, to pressing on nerves.
whatever is wrong, the pulling increases damage.
muscles also have "memory", and the longer/ more frequent this happens, your muscles will tend to keep returning to that unhealthy position. it becomes a vicious circle. Nip it with flexaril, every time. on days when u can't take it due to work, take it all evening & overnights.
muscles don't release & go back immediately on the drug...might take DAYS.
sitting is bad, it compresses spine. sorry! u r better off laying flat with knees bent, feet flat on mattress or floor. it opens your spine.
:-(
flexaril worked better for me than painkillers. but at the point of no return, it took both that and narcotics.
it felt like a sword was literally being shoved down into my lower back, and clear on down into my foot.
I was a zombie.
TIME TO GO UNDER THE KNIFE.

neurosurgeon said what he saw during surgery was "what I see in construction workers. in life long construction workers."
herniated discs, calcified due to years of continuing work and then another herniation behind that...so calcium held it against the nerves without budging.
One foot wouldn't lift & I'd fall flat on my face without warning.
usually on cement.
Not sexy.
;-)

just slept 5 hours straight. felt good. i need way more and im gonna take some flex and try again after i eat. thanks for the tips. its hard cause i know surgery is needed but when i feel better i put it off just like everything else. deff feels like a sword is beeing pushed in from the top off my ass down my leg and comming out my shin.

DANG that sucks bro, hopefully the pain goes away for you man :)

Sorry for taking so long about RTM, school has been hell lol(senior) But when ever I can swing by Lmk, I will be waiting lol :D

if I had gotten my surgery sooner, I'd probably be fine. now my spinal cord is damaged and I'm stuck with screaming hot agony until it kills me.
