Went into my LFS today and woman who owns the place said she had a pleco she sees as a juvenile only once in a blue moon. Low and behold a juvenile Red Devil Spiney Had him marked at $139 sold him to me for $100.

You lucky duck,you got a non-common that actually gets large.Which is the problem with most high priced L-numbered ones,they get like 4-5-6 inches!! No good when you also house large cichlids!!So you are lucky!!

Panaque is a genus, plecostomus is a specific species, which there is only one of, hypostomus plecostomus.

I'd say was a bit on the expensive side, but depends on where you are and of course, what the fish is worth to you Very nice fish... and there are plenty that get to a decent size... and you usually have to pay a lot for them.
