Yeah, really nasty. I'm thinking a sump for my 125g. A local member has a 300g for sale I'm considering.

i sorta like the driveway gravel look...

i picked up a 60 months ago that was just about as dirty.. however it had been sitting on the side of someones house for a few months

If it was all driveway gravel I'd be fine, but it's all mixed in. I'm not sure it's worth the aggravation to sort it.

125g or possible 300g. I only checked quickly before I put my daughter to bed.

Yeah, I never considered not taking it.

Datza dirty! Wow. I think the only thing you COULD use it for would be a sump. Free nevertheless, I'd have taken it too.

It's interesting because it's an old tank and the glass is .25" thk. My 75g is only 3/16" thk. I might end up giving it away in exchange for a guy I work w/ to clean my gutters. I don't like working on a ladder.

nice find. Try freecycle.org if your looking for more. I just got a 30 gallon and a 75 gallon that I am picking up this weekend. ;)

I'll have to start looking there. I check CL on a whim a the end of the day. I got directions and left a few minutes early.

Later,

Steve.

Now that I really look at that tank you have, I know why its so dirty. When I left my grandmother to take care of my fish when i went on vacation, thats what my tank looked like when i got back. Filter stopped pumping water and dried up. It is cleanable though. I cleaned up my tank when it looked like that. Tip. use a razor blade and you will be good.

That tank is clean compared to my last free 55g.. I wish I had taken pics. Mine was 1/3 full of water you couldn't see through. Black & red algae on the walls, I shiver thinking of it even now...

Well get cleaning, nice score...

I scraped a blade across it this morning. It'll take some elbow grease, vinegar and hot water. I'm sure it'll clean up.

Yeah, it baffles me people just let it like that. It really stinks and you can see the water level lines as the water was evaporating. To let it just sit and not break it down baffles me. People are weird.:screwy:

Awesome dude, I Just got a 55 w/double stand for $40 off CL and I thought I got a deal, but nothing beats free! You do have some cleaning to do though...

Yeah, I like free. It's my favorite price to pay. I think you got a good deall, too.

Mine came from a school, after Summer vacation. They had new carpet put in & unplugged the tank, moved it to a corner & left it for 3 months. No filter, No heater, No food. I actually found live fish in the tank, unfortunately I think the shock of a clean tank was too much for them.. They only lasted from 6 to 12 months except 3 albino danios lasted 4 years.

I am keeping an eye on this one, it will clean up nice.

The thought of what you described makes me want to vomit.

I did some preliminary test cleaning via a dry razor blade and I think it will clean up. It makes me second guess my desire to turn it into a sump.
