I have been using polyester batting in my filters for water polishing for a long time now. Has anyone else ever used this? It's cheap and serves as an excellent prefilter. Just make sure you regularly clean your impellar of an fibers. I have also used the pot scrubbers for years. They work well for everyday filtration. I have also used high density foam (am right now) to clean up fine particulate and provide a tremendous amount of surface area for bb. My fiance works in a hospital so this is sterile blue foam. Nice thread.

For way too many years .

If your having fiber/impeller probs change to a better grade of batting or put a very course foam filter after it to catch the fibers.

From time to time I get a few fibers wrapped around the impellar... nothing major. With regular maintenance I have never had an issue... just notice a few strands from time to time.
