Hey everyone, I've recently discovered a big scratch on the inside of my tank. It is a 120 gallon that is less then a month old. I've begun to feel extremely scared. The scratch is about 7 - 9 centimeter long and has the width of a strand of hair, right down the middle. When I stick my hand into the tank I can feel it with my finger. So I've begin to think that it is a crack. The last thing I want is a 120 gallon tank exploding on my carpeted basement. The tank is fairly new and there are about zero scratched on my glass. This is why this sudden huge scratch/crack surprised me. I really doubt my baby koi's housed in it could have done it.

So here's where I need your help, how do I identify the difference between a scratch or crack? Is there some sort of method I can preform? Its been about 2 hours since I saw the crack, and I've read that a crack usually begins to expand after an hour. I hope someone can answer me soon.

Thanks.

ok bro its simple a crack is basically a fracture that is deep enough to see
my method to find cracks is get on the side of your tank and look into the front pane of the glass ( look inside the glass).
now iMO its just a deep scratch thats all. Cracks are usually on both sides of the glass

I had a brand new 125 simply explode one day...the tank was level and evrything (the replacement is on the same stand and has been fine for more than a year).

Thats a horrible sight SimonL. Was the damage to an extreme? Or did it just take a little clean up?
