As many of you know I picked up a vulture cat a couple days ago. Today I noticed some scratches on him. Not sure if they are from bumping into things (had some sharp rocks in the tank), or from a cichlid nipping at him.

In any case I moved the rocks and wood around to open up some swimming space for him in case that's the culprit.

How serious are these? Should I be doing something to treat them or will try heal on their own?

Looks like small wounds of an explorer. Should heal well on their own. If worry, add a little salt gradually or just keep a close eye on the one with some red near the tail - the rest are not important where some skin remains.

Thanks for all your help so far with this guy. I've had cats before but nothing this big.

Can you also tell me why after chowing down on some nls and shrimp pellets I saw him regurgitate some of them? Ate too much? I've heard of cats doing this before.

Proably just not used to the food. Try something more natural like shrimp or talapia, once he takes that, stuff it with pellets or what ever else you feed.

Too much is possible and/or still a bit nervous and adjusting (it's his second day) and/or unfamiliar food. The fact that he eats is great in itself. Remember what people like RedtailRob told you about their greed? :) I imagine they may attempt to eat (or eat a lot) before even their bodies being ready to hold the food down (hold it down well) :)

Thanks for watching my other thread for me on pcf. Lol. Not use to that forum. The only way I know someone has replied is when you tell me someone said something.

During feeding today I noticed some aggression between the cat and my rose queen. The cat went for the rq and the rq bit back then they were done. But I think that is where the scratches are coming from...

I agree with Skittle. The scratches in those pics are hard to imagine to be caused by another fish. Now, if the cat has new ones, that's a different matter.

My channel cat has the same scratches all the time, mostly self inflicted when trying to get the food that is under the driftwood.
They heal up just fine..
