This is something I've wanted to get done for some time now and now here it is. 6x2x2 is the size but I wanted to do something different so i drew some plants and added some 2 inch dowel for perch's.

I will answer any question you may have about the build or the snake. I do not know what species of scrub she is however. I was told it's an Aru... but that's a local, not a species, so I'm stuck.

Very nice enclosure. I like the paint job and the dowel rods are a great idea. Very natural kind of perch for basking (if it wants to). I might have to do something like this for my ball python.

A+++!

By the way, how do the doors open? Are they sliding glass or hinged? It's hard to tell from the pics.

Thanks Conner and Bruce

The whole cage is made of paint grade maple plywood. I used good one side Fir last time and it just doesn't give me that smooth drywall finish that I wanted to ease of cleaning.

The doors are 3/16 glass that slide. Held in by E track. Probably the most costly part of the cage.

Right now she is 6 feet long. I am expecting 9-10 and a lot thicker :)

Great looking snake and enclosure. People often think that reptiles don't benefit from mentally stimulating enclosures which imo is simply not true. It's always nice to see someone providing their animals which "toys" like you do.

I'll try, haha :)

Wood(maple ply, paint grade) $50 a sheet, 2 sheets needed.

Paint(Behr paint and primer in one, exterior) I spent like $200+ for all the colours. I did not use full cans thought, so I have plenty for more projects.

The black piece in the middle is just a left over piece of maple plywood that I cut to help strengthen the cage from sagging.

I used one screw every 4 inches and marked + pre drilled every hole with a 1/8th titanium drill bit(they last longer, and I do a lot of work)

Doors with track is $90

4 foot, 2" dowels(Lowes) are $8 each. I needed 3. It's difficult getting 45 degree cuts on a dowel.

You will need a table saw, mitre saw and drill for this project. Luckily I have all of these so that is no extra cost to me.

Here are some things not seen when first looked at the cage. Like the linoleum flooring. Cost me $25, its a good grade and I got double what I needed:

Mark where you want your lights (hole saw:$56)

More cages to come. You guys are going to love what I have been working on the last few months ;)

NOTE: I am not an electrician or a carpenter. I'm just a kid who has gone through a lot of trial and error, forum reading, and after doing a lot of calculations.... I come out with these. I love building :)
