I have the same kind of thing but on a 2ft stick!
 
magfloat for acyrlic.. and anything can scratch acrylic if your not paying attention... credit card actually also works well.
 
I find, if you fire a gun at it - with the correct angle, I might add. It blasts it clean off.

Yaya neither does my royal... You could consider getting another kind... But its like the class name osilus or some weird stuff like that idk... If u look at the genus and whatever of a royal its in there sonewhere... Thats how i know but i forgot what it is exactly... But my common goes all over the tank... Dw, glass, he will go leaf by leafe on my fake plants lol.... But they get big idk how big the tank is but u could always do a bristelnose too cause they only get like 6 inches or somethin
