Who here has kept or is keeping any catfish that can live (Meitner for part or the entirety of their life) in saltwater? Such as columbian shark cats, hardheads, gafftopsails, etc?

I kept Colombian's. Started them off in fw since that's what they were in when I got them then slowly transitioned to brackish for about a year and eventually they were in full salt along with scats and a green spotted puffer as well as some actual sw fish.

Kept the striped eel-tail stinging catfish (Plotosus lineatus). They're commonly sold as coral catfish.

Are you serious bro?! Where the heck could you get ahold of one, I'd setup an entire salt tank just for this fish if I could get one!

They are common in the Gulf, I caught this one off a pier last night in Galveston. Hardy little buggers, kept hitting my bait all night while fishing for red.

I'm pretty sure I caught one of them twice.

This must be Ariopsis felis. That and gafftopsail (Bagrus marinus), both voracious feeders, are caught in Naples regularly too http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=39382&hilit=+marinus

Before I knew better, I've killed a few Colombian sharks in f/w.

Kept 3 Colombians for a while awesome fish!

Thank you for the ID. Lots of gaftops caught too. They're all so hardy, I'm sure they could survive bring transported divemaster ;-)

Coral cats are very common in the trade. Even PetCo carries them. They can be bought for around $10 - $20.
