My wife has a couple huge shells I'd like to snag from her. They are very old bleached with no color, just white about 1' across and about 1 1/2' long. Does anyone know if they would deposit calcium and pollute a 120gal tank? I'd like to display them.

They will probably buffer the water slightly.I use shells in my tanks but I have hard alkaline water and keep mostly rift lake and CA cichlids.

Exactly, it might be fine, but it would depend on the fish you keep.
