Are these legal?
Probibly not, but i figured it was worth asking.
(ANY species)

I was also wondering this, I have a bit of an idea on housing I'll have to draw up on paint and post here... I was watching a documentary on them and while watching it I kept thinking of making an enclosure for one and had some pretty cool ideas I'll have to draw up because I'm to lazy to explain in text.

you know they feed on stone fish right?
and are one of the most poisoness snakes

Actually not just stone fish but many of the native fish to there specific area, some like eels other a more varied diet .

No clue if it's legal, but I'll be they don't do well in captivity. I think they need a ton of swimming space.

And where did you get that from?
Although they are so venemous, they are in general eceptionally docile. You can get them (at least some species) over here (with a DWA licence), and they tend to do fine, just very good at escaping. Not sure of the laws in cali... suppose that means there isn't the info on the exotics legal list then...

I don't know how well they fare... I do know that the File Snakes don't do well in captivity.

well it is like anything... give it what it needs to live and it's fine lol. I know of a couple of species of file snakes that are reasonably long captives and have been doing well for several years.
