Dunno what DOC's are lol but yes I know most guys scheduale there WC around the amount they change as well as how often... Guess I don't really need to do mine every week now

Keep in mind that nitrates are only one of the things you are removing at each water change. Still need to remove DOC's, so most folks use the nitrate reading more as a guide to set up a water change schedule.

Great Bio media, but water changes to reduce nitrates is required none the less, I use 8liters of pond matrix in my sump

I recently added matrix to my XP4. I just thought it was more cost effective. I doubt it will reduce nitrates. But, if it does, ill post here.
