SeaChem Purigen

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
would it work in a AC 110 you think?

as long as water is running through it or around it. it will work

must have turned it to mush or something. read the label, it clearly says 1/1 with water. mine is starting to show its near its capacity since staring it in february

no had the mix right just never told my girlfriend lol

I recharge my purigen at a 1:6 ratio of liquid pool chlorine. Very economical and works the same as a good quality pure bleach solution. I find 1:1 ratio seachem reccomend not good enough when the purigen has been pulling tannins out of the water. I have used the same lot of purigen for the last 2 years and it works just as good as the day I bagged them. I leave mine in the bleach mix for over a month sometimes and it's fine. The key to making purigen last is never let the product dry out, (store it in dechlorinated water) otherwise the polymer beads dry out and loose mass. Every time this occurs you loose more purigen until it eventually turns to dust like and the product becomes useless.

purigen is also great because it's like a banana: it gives you colour warnings. It turns dark green then to brown.

brown colour is it's expiry date.

I soak mine in 4/5 bleach then a heavy wash and soak, until it's got no bleach smell and is white.

White colour is it's rdy to go state.

No. it doesn't. How much you need depends on your bioload. Seachem state that 1l will be good enough for 1000 gallons for up to six months

If you are concerned with Purigen interfering with your biological filtration, just place it after the bio. I have mine located after my bio and plants, before my pump. -FM
