I am switching from Seachem Prime to Seachem Safe because I heard it cost less. How do you measure the dosage? I know that Prime is easy because it goes by ml and a person can get a small measuring cup. Safe is different thou because it is powder. I have a 110, 80, and 55 gallon tank. I sometimes use a 5 gallon bucket also when I add water. Please let me know how to dose. Thanks.

I got this from the Seachem website but it is not very clear:

Directions for 10 g and 50 g

To remove…
Chlorine: use 1 measure to each 130 L (35 gallons*) of tap water (removes 1 ppm)..
Chloramine: use 1 measure to each 100 L (25 gallons*) of tap water (removes 1 ppm).
Ammonia: use 1 measure to each 32 L (8 gallons*) of tap water (removes 1 ppm). Do not overdose!

For reference, 1 measure = 100 mg. To detoxify nitrite/nitrate in an emergency situation use up to 5 measures to each 40 L (10 gallons). Use fish to gauge toxicity reduction as test kits will still show presence of nitrite/nitrate even when detoxified. May be added to aquarium directly, but is better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. If temperature is > 30 C (86 F) cut dosing in half.

1 teaspoon per 250 gallons. My water volume is approximately 120 gallons. So I take 1/2 teaspoon and dissolve it into a cup of tank water. And as my tank refills (using python) I pour it into the tank.

For my 125g I stole my wife measuring spoon for 1/2 a teaspoon. Dump that straight into my sump then fill.

SAFE labeling doesn't say it removes heavy metals, like Prime does.

Pretty sure the container I have here says it remove heavy metals and etc, and I have 130g I change out 80% or so of my water weekly and I turn my 2 fx5's off when filling up with my python, and then once filled I put in 1 teaspoon of safe (9.78mg/l of chlorine in my water) and then turn the filters back on 5-10mins after
